FAQ
Questions, answered.
Everything a candidate (or a parent) tends to ask before applying.
What is a pest control subscription?
Think of it like an antibiotic — one or two visits is just a quick fix. Recurring service (monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly) breaks down nesting cycles all year, and it comes with a warranty: if a customer sees anything between visits, we re-treat for free.
How do interns get paid?
You're paid up front on every sale, with the rest paid on the back end as your accounts season. The average intern makes ~$13,200 in commission, plus incentives and trips. The full paycale and mechanics are in the Pay Explainer.
Does Evo house its interns?
Yes. Evo fronts fully furnished housing (including utilities) so you pay nothing to get set up, then subsidizes it as you perform — up to fully covered. You live with your team.
What are the hours?
In sales you work against time. A day is three parts — morning meeting, morning shift, and afternoon shift (wrapping up in the evening, since after 5 is prime time). Monday–Friday plus a half-day Saturday, the best day to work.
When does the internship run?
The season runs May 7 – August 11 — flexible around your school schedule and family, with 5 days off throughout the summer.
What will my teammates be like?
Motivated, like-minded, college-aged people all chasing the same goal. A culture of excellence and a ton of fun — the people you'll compete beside, live with, and stay friends with.
Why direct sales over another sales internship?
Most internships make you a glorified lead-gen assistant. At Evo you own the entire sales cycle, and face-to-face selling teaches non-verbal communication and body language you can't learn over the phone.
Is a sales internship a smart career move?
Sales is a universal skill — 50% of grads start in a sales role (60% for business majors, 88% for marketing). Walking in with real sales skills lets you skip or star in entry-level roles.
Why is it a good idea no matter my major?
No matter your field, you'll use sales and interpersonal skills forever. The biggest gap in recent grads is interpersonal skill — Evo gives you a major leg up on your peers.
Where is the internship located?
In Evo's 8 markets across the Midwest & South (Augusta, Green Bay, Omaha, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, St. Louis, Wichita, Little Rock — and more). Location is assigned by your hiring manager. You may have applied through a posting in your own city — Evo advertises in college towns nationwide, but the internship is in our markets.
What will I learn?
Work ethic, emotional intelligence, that preparation equals success, interpersonal communication, and a real understanding of how a business flows.
